Checking condensation drain
– Remove floor covering ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep.
gr. 70; Passenger compartment trim panels; Removing and
installing floor covering.
NOTICE
Risk of damage to airbag control unit. Electrical connectors
corrode when exposed to moisture.
– After unplugging connectors for control unit, cover them or
seal them off to prevent moisture from entering.
– Lug -arrow A- must be engaged at connection of heater and
air conditioning unit -1-.
– Sealing lip -4- must be fitted firmly at body opening -3-
-arrow B-.
– Condensation drain -2- must not be twisted or crushed.
– Remove condensation drain and check for constrictions

Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence.

Removing
DANGER
High voltage can cause fatal injury.
Danger of severe or fatal injuries from electric shock or elec‐
tric arcs.
– Have a high-voltage technician (HVT) or a high-voltage
expert (HVE) de-energise the high-voltage system.

– ⇒ Rep. gr. 93; De-energise high-voltage system.
– Remove vibration isolation strut ⇒ General body repairs,
exterior; Rep. gr. 50; Lock carrier; Removing and installing
vibration isolation strut.
– Remove fresh air intake ⇒ Rep. gr. 87; Removing and instal‐
ling fresh air intake.
– Release locking lug -3-.
– Remove cover for high-voltage connection on vehicle front
end -2-.
– Remove cover for high-voltage connection on vehicle front
end -1- from guide.
Vehicles with all-wheel drive
– Detach gearbox breather.
All vehicles (continued)
– Disconnect electrical connectors -1-.
– Release clamps -2-.
– Unscrew fasteners -1-.

– Remove adapter plate -2-.
– Unscrew nuts -2- from air intake unit of heater and air condi‐
tioning unit -1-.
– Unscrew nuts -2- from air intake unit of heater and air condi‐
tioning unit -1-.
– Remove air intake unit of heater and air conditioning unit -1-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
NOTICE
Risk of water ingress into the heater and air conditioning unit
and the vehicle interior due to damaged gaskets.
– Make sure that the gaskets are correctly installed.
– Check the gaskets for damage.
– Seals -1- and -2- must be seated properly on air intake unit.

– Remove heater and air conditioning unit ⇒ Rep. gr. 87; Re‐
moving and installing heater and air conditioning unit.
– Release fasteners -6- from grommet -5-.
– Guide high-voltage wire -7- out of air intake cowling -4-.
– Unscrew bolts -1- to -3-.
– Unscrew nuts -1- to -7-.
